Shore Access & Hiking

Jeff’s Stone Barn Hiking Map

The Stone Barn is located directly on the world-famous Bruce Trail system. There are some fantastic hikes you can enjoy directly from the property.

The Easy Loop

Head east from The Stone Barn down Whippoorwill Rd, you will see a Canada Post mailbox on your left. Hop over the red gate (if closed) and follow the dirt road to where it connects with the main trail. Turn left and follow the white blazes back to 40 Hills Rd and return to the barn on Whippoorwill Rd.

Lookout 1

Start the same as The Easy Loop but turn right when you meet the main trail, soon you will come to the edge of the White Bluff cliffs. Follow the cliff edge to a large clearing.

Lookout 2

Continue past Lookout 1 to the highest point of the cliff, over 150’ above the water for epic views of Georgian Bay.

Forest Loop

Continue past Lookout 2 and descend back down in elevation and into the forest. Watch for where the trails meet and follow the forest loop back west where you will rejoin the main trail at Lookout 1.

Access To The Georgian Bay Shore

The majority of the shoreline access along Whippoorwill Rd and Isthmus Bay Rd is privately owned so please be respectful of our neighbours.

There is a public access point available within walking distance of the barn for you to enjoy the rocky shoreline.

Walk to the end of Whippoorwill Road and you will see the last home #100.

Stay just on this side of the fence and follow the faint trail to the shore line. Turn left to pass in front of the last cottage. The shore line heading north is all part of a provincial nature reserve. Watch of Poison Ivy along the forest edge.

There are some large boulders on the shore in the distance, this is a great place to go explore.
